The Relationship of Stand to Panicles Per Plant and Per Unit Area in Oats1

  1. J. E. Grafius2

Synopsis

Synopsis

The relationship between stand and panicles per plant and per unit area is explored. Two theorems are developed and proved, and used as a basis for calculating the theoretical effect of variations in stand on numbers of panicles per unit area. As would be expected, some of the 40 varieties of oats tested compensate better than others for variations in density in stand.
