Synopsis

Pangolagrass is highly male-sterile because lagging chromosomes produce. unbalanced nuclei in the pollen. The grass is female-sterile because meiosis fails to progress past the leptotene stage. Only one plant produced by a Pangolagrass seed has been observed, clonal material from this plant contains 27 somatic chromosomes.
