The Effect of High Temperature Contact Treatment on Hard Seeds of Alfalfa1

Contact heat treatments sustained by allowing alfalfa seed to slide down a heated inclined plane were effective in increasing germination and decreasing hard seed content.

The treatments were more effective for samples high in hard seeds, although the relative effect was similar over all samples.
