Synopsis

The difference in the rate of development between early (White Federation 38 and Progress) and late (Chinese and Warden) maturing varieties of spring wheat was overcome by a 60-day vernalizing treatment. The responsiveness to vernalization of plants grown from seed harvested in different years varied unpredictably.
