Spring Oats for Winter Forage in the Southwest1

Spring oats were successfully grown for winter forage in the Southwest. High yields of high quality pasture, green chopped feed, and hay were obtained. Markton was the best variety for winter forage production. Spring oats produced more winter pasture forage than spring barley.
