Recovery of the Creeping-Root Habit in F2 Progenies in Alfalfa1

Synopsis

Root proliferations were first noted 10 months alter seeding. At 16 months of age, 94% of the creeping-rooted parents and 2% of the F2 individuals were creeping. The inheritance of the creeping-root habit was complex with complementary factors indicated. There was a low positive correlation between crown width of G families and percentage of plants creeping.
