Artificial Pollen Germination for Selection of Improved Seed Production in Paspalum Dilatatum, Poir1

  1. Hugh W. Bennett2

Synopsis

Synopsis

The germination of Dallisgrass pollen on artificial media shows no significant differences between high and low seed producing selections, sugar concentrations, degrees of acidity, or media. Temperatures of 30° C. and below are indicated as best for germination on artificial media. Artificial pollen germination was found to be unreliable as a basis of selection for improved seed production in Dallisgrass.
