Evidence of Non-Allelic Gene Interaction in Determining Yield, Ear Height, and Kernel Row Number in Corn1

  1. Loyal F. Bauman2

Synopsis

Synopsis

Epistatic gene action was found to be involved in determining yield, ear height, and kernel row number in corn. However, significant epistasis × year interactions were found in some cases. The epistatic deviations in some cases, therefore, may be similar to or a part of the genotype-environment interactions normally encountered. The method employed proved relatively ineffective in detecting epistasis.
