Synopsis

Sterilizing Pullman silty day loam for perennial weed eradication may create a wind erosion hazard for about 2 years. Soil treated with 3-p-chlorophenyl-l,l-dimethyl urea (monuron) was more susceptible to wind erosion than soil treated with anhydrous borax, a 75% sodium borate plus 25% sodium chlorate mixture, or sodium chlorate. Undisturbed monurontreated soil was more susceptible to wind erosion than monuron soil treatments which were subsequently sweep tilled and planted to sorghum.
