Synopsis

Synopsis

The data suggest that after three generations of selection, lines become somewhat homozygous for palatability to cattle. Although there was gradual loss in vigor with each generation of inbreeding, a sufficient number of lines were maintained through four generations of selfing to indicate that selection within inbred lines may be used successfully in tall fescue improvement.
