Synopsis

Synopsis

Wide differences among clones in vegetative vigor and seed production were evident; however, no apparent gain in either characteristic was made through two cycles of selection. The performance of open pollination progenies proved to be a good indication of diallel cross performance. Environmental, genetic, and observed correlations, and environmental and genetic path coefficients indicated that genetic effects were more important than environmental effects in contributing to the observed variability in various progeny characters.
