Synopsis

Synopsis

The chromogen-chromic oxide method of measuring dry matter consumption by grazing dairy cows was more sensitive than the clipping (mower-strip) method. Results by clipping were variable and unreliable. The comparison was not directly affected by differing forage mixtures.
