Synopsis

Synopsis

Soaking seeds in solutions of gibberellic acid stimulated slow-emerging wheat varieties to emerge at rates comparable to rapid-emerging varieties under both greenhouse and field conditions. Gibberellic acid treatment adversely affected seedling survival of 3 rapid-emerging varieties but did not influence survival of 2 slow-emerging varieties. Treatment did not stimulate coleoptile elongation of any varieties tested.
