Effect of Drying Upon the Amounts of Easily Extractable Potassium and Phosphorus in Nicollet Clay Loam1

Air and oven drying resulted in increases of exchangeable potassium over that extracted from field moist soil. The drying effects were greater in samples from unfertilized plots than in samples from plots receiving moderate and heavy potassium treatments. Air drying had only a slight effect on the extractable phosphorus.
