Synopsis

Synopsis

Plant populations and row widths affect the relative amounts of energy absorbed by the plants and by the soil. A considerable increase in absorption of light energy within the crop canopy can be achieved through the process of spatial distribution of plants in a cornfield. The data emphasize the necessity of low populations and wide row widths under semi-arid conditions.
