Effect of Rates and Methods of Seeding on the Original Stand, Tillering, Stem Diameter, Leaf-Stem Ratio, and Yield of Sudangrass1

Synopsis

Synopsis

Drilled sudangrass produced higher original stand counts, smaller original stem diameter, and more herbage than when seeded broadcast. More tillering, smaller tiller stem diameters, and lower leaf-stem ratios of drilled compared to broadcast sudangrass in the first harvests were not sustained into the later harvests. Row width or seeding rate had no significant effect on herbage yields.
