Extraction of Soil Moisture by Merion Bluegrass (Poa pratensis L. ‘Merion’) Turf, as Affected by Irrigation Frequency, Mowing Height, and Other Cultural Operations1

Height of cut, irrigation frequency, and aeration treatments all produced significant differences in water extraction. Extraction by 3- and 4-year-old sod occurred almost entirely in the top 20 inches of the soil.
