Synopsis

Nitrogen-fertilized roots were consistently higher in growth activity than roots not fertilized with nitrogen on a total roots per treatment basis. Phosphorus-fertilized root extracts had lless growth activity than nitrogen-fertilized root extracts, and about equal or less growth activity than extracts from roots not fertilized with nitrogen or phosphorus.
