Synopsis

Synopsis

Fall or spring applications of K fertilizer to orchardgrass resulted in herbage that was high in K in the spring but low in late summer and fall. An annual summer application of K greatly reduced the trend toward luxury consumption in the spring and K starvation in the fall. Calculated K recovery in the herbage plus residual exchangeable soil K accounted for all of the applied K.
