Synopsis

Synopsis

Present data illustrate the desirability of establishing field maturity standards upon which to base field readiness for seed harvest under California climatic conditions. Harvesting when 20 to 35% of the panicles are fully mature appears to be the range of field maturity at which maximum seed yields and minimum preharvest shatter losses occur.
