Use of Radiophosphorous in Measuring Root Growth of Sorghum1

  1. Jerry W. McClure and

Synopsis

Synopsis

Radiophosphorus provides a means of measuring the rate and extent of root growth throughout the growing season under field conditions with a minimum of soil disturbance. Data reported herein substantiate other findings on depth and lateral spread of grain sorghum roots but show, in addition, that significant root growth was made by a sorghum hybrid after flowering.
