Synopsis

Synopsis

Two levels of shading imposed 6 weeks after planting had more apparent effect upon the root and top dry weight accumulation of 3 alfalfa varieties than upon their height, root length, or root/top ratio. Root dry weight accumulation was much more sensitive to shading than top dry weight accumulation. Potassium fertilization affected plant height, root length, root dry weight accumulation, and the root/top dry weight ratio. Interactions of the second and third order were noted in several cases.
