Synopsis

Synopsis

Difference in dry-matter yields among plots given different levels of N fertilizer gradually increased to a maximum at time of maximum yield. The time of maximum yield occurred later in the growing season on plots fertilized with N than on unfertilized plots. During early stages of growth the internal concentration of N in herbage increased with each increment of applied N. The rate of dilution of internal N increased with increasing levels of applied N.
