Effect of Nitrate and Ammonium on Growth of Corn in Nutrient Solution Sand Culture

Nitrate was superior to ammonium as a source of N during the first 4 to 9 weeks of growth of corn in 2 greenhouse experiments. Part of the cause was the deleterious effect of ammonium on the growth and condition of the root system.
