Effects of Row Spacing and Fertilizer Treatment on Seed Yield and Related Traits of ‘Sterling’ Orchardgrass1

  1. Irving T. Carlson2

Synopsis

Synopsis

Higher seed yields were obtained from rows spaced 24 inches apart than from 9- or 36-inch rows. Nitrogen fertilization increased seed yields each year. There was a response to phosphorus in the second and third years in 9- and 24-inch rows. Early April applications of fertilizer gave better yields than early September applications on 24-inch rows.
