Availability of Phosphorus in Rock Phosphate-Sulfur Fusions1

Recovery of P by ryegrass was inversely related to granule size and ratio of rock phosphate to sulfur. Both the 1:1 and 2:1 ratios of −40 mesh granules compared favorably with superphosphate as a source of P. Recovery of P from fusions added to calcareous soils was quite low. After 4 weeks incubation, the amounts of sulfur oxidized were quite similar for soil moisture contents between two-thirds and twice field moisture capacity.
