Synopsis

Synopsis

A soil moisture tension definition is proposed which can easily be related to the equivalent negative pressure of soil water; capillarity; and soil moisture tension measurements using the tension table, tensiometer, pressure membrane, and centrifuge. Beginning students understand and retain the concept because the definition is simple and because it can be related to many different aspects of soil moisture.
