An Inexpensive Raingauge1

Small, inexpensive raingauges were made from 2.5-cm electrical conduit supported in short lengths of sunken pipe. They gave readings about 5% below those of standard gauges (20-cm diam.) but were much less susceptible to damage and vandalism.
