Response of Vernonia anthelmintica (L.) Willd. to Spacing Arrangement1
- John H. Massey2
A field study was conducted with Indian ironweed (Vernonia anthelmintica (L.) Willd.) at Experiment, Ga., to determine the effects of row width and within-row spacing on seed yield, plant height, and basal stem diameter. Row width and within-row spacing had no effect on seed yield or plant height. Row width had a highly significant effect on stem diameter. Plants grown at 20- and 41-cm within-row spacing did not differ in stem diameter, but stems of plants grown at 10-cm within-row spacing were smaller than those grown at 20- and 41-cm spacing. Please view the pdf by using the Full Text (PDF) link under 'View' to the left.
