Abstract

Coarse styrofoam was a non-toxic, permeable, lightweight material which reduced evaporation from the soil surface by 78% compared with bare soil. This material is easy to apply and allows for uniform evaporation under controlled environmental conditions which have high temperatures and low humidity.
