An Improved Forage Harvester for Experimental Plots1
- R. J. Allen,
- T. W. Casselman and
- F. H. Thomas2
A flail type, self-propelled, small plot forage harvester, patterned after a machine previously reported, has been built. A full width supporting roller, a deflecting shield, a simplified takedown, and a lever-operated flail clutch equipped with a brake for a safety feature have been added as improvements. Forage from 20 to 92 cm tall may be cut at 2.5 to 20 cm above ground and deposited into a removable collection box.
Blueprints for this improved model or address of commercial builder can be obtained from the Everglades Experiment Station. Please view the pdf by using the Full Text (PDF) link under 'View' to the left.
