Winter Wheat Yields and Response to Nitrogen as Affected by Soil and Climatic Factors1
- Harold V. Eck and
- Billy B. Tucker2
Soil moisture, precipitation, temperature, and organic matter variables were related to winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) yields and yield response to N fertilizer. Though significant simple and multiple correlations were found, relationships were not sufficiently close to yield satisfactory equations for predicting wheat yields or yield response to N fertilizer. However, the fact that soil moisture alone or in combination with the other variables studied did not yield a satisfactory predictive equation does not preclude their use in decisions regarding fertilizer applications. Please view the pdf by using the Full Text (PDF) link under 'View' to the left.
