A self-propelled forage harvester has been developed at Purdue University for harvesting experimental plots. The major advantages of this harvester are: lower initial and operational cost than presently available equipment on this type; greater maneuverability; easy transportability in a carry-all or pick-up truck; an easily controllable ground speed; and a light weight, keeping soil compaction problems to a minimum.
