Abstract
Abstract
A method for growing corn (Zea mays L.) plants to maturity in nutrient solutions is described. Plants were grown in 18-liter polyethylene containers, and held upright by wires extending from a center dowel which was securely fastened to the tight-fitting container lid. Ease, simplicity, and flexibility made it convenient to use. No special equipment was required. The method overcame many of the problems inherent with sand and gravel cultures.
