Abstract

Abstract

Accuracy and reliability of an infrared field thermometer were evaluated in field and laboratory tests. Thermal and solar radiation on the instrument itself, ambient temperature, and the temperature of the surface being measured, affected the indicated temperature of the surface temperature being measured. An infrared field thermometer of the type tested was considered unsuitable for field use.
