Abstract

Abstract

Present techniques for measurement of respiration, evaporation, and photosynthesis do not permit evaluation of a large number of experimental variables. A field plot technique is described which enables precise measurement from a large number of plots. A device is used that produces a closed canopy over a field plot for a short time during which CO2 and H2O concentrations are measured. The procedure produces minimal disturbance of natural field conditions and can measure CO2 and H2O fluxes with high precision.
