Line Source Carbon Dioxide Release. II. Two-Dimensional Numerical Diffusion Model1

  1. L. H. Allen2

Abstract

Abstract

Field experiments of CO2 release from a line source left many gaps in our knowledge of CO2 diffusion and how the released gas was lost from the field. The two dimensional vertical flux and horizontal mass flow numedical model presented here showed graphically where and how this loss was occurring. CO2 tended to be lost vertically in a bent-over plume. Some of the CO2 which was lost vertically would diffuse again into the crop canopy, but this small amount would not increase the canopy CO2 concentration significantly.
