Five plant tissue digestion procedures were evaluated for their ability to extract Ti from soil. Sulfuric-selenous and nitric-perchloric acid procedures each extracted large amounts of Ti from soil, and therefore, soil contamination of plant tissue samples can be identified by using either of these digestion procedures. Both of these procedures also extracted relatively large amounts of Al, Fe, Mg, and Ca from soil. Nitric acid and dry ash plus HCI extraction methods were inadequate for determining soil contamination by Ti analysis.
