Abstract

Abstract

Three winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) phenology models (CERES-wheat, TAMW, Robertson) were compared for accuracy in estimating jointing, heading, dough, and ripe stage dates for winter wheat at the Crop Reporting District (CRD) level in Kansas. The models' estimates of stage dates were compared to weekly USDA Statistical Reporting Service stage observations for even years during 1952 to 1980. Odd years were reserved for calibration of models. The CERES-wheat model estimates were consistently more accurate for all stages.
