Abstract

Abstract

A program is described that reduces laboratory time and labor by using an interface card to input readings from an electronic analytical balance to a microcomputer. Use of the system and the program is illustrated for detergent fiber analyses of forage samples. The program automatically records balance readings and calculates analytical results. Results are stored on floppy disks. Advantages include reduced time input for repetitive weighings and elimination of errors resulting from transcription or calculation. Results may also be transferred directly to another computer for summarization and statistical analyses.
