Modeling Sensible and Latent Heat Transport in Crop and Residue Canopies

Modeling of latent and sensible heat exchange in crop and residue canopies is complicated by the fact that the equations for the two processes are strongly coupled and require simultaneous solution. We derive a set of uncoupled equations where the new fluxes are enthalpy and isothermal latent heat and the new driving forces are equivalent temperature and vapor pressure deficit. The canopy network equations, using the new driving variables, are reduced, using Thevenin's theorem, to a single potential and a single resistance for each flux.Please view the pdf by using the Full Text (PDF) link under 'View' to the left.
