Influence of nitrogen fertilization on severity of pythium blight of ryegrass1
- T.R. Freeman
Results of laboratory and greenhouse tests confirmed field observations that N fertilization affected the severity of damage caused by Pythium aphanidermatum on ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum). Increasing the rate of N derived from inorganic sources from 0 to 2.2 kg/93 m2 resulted in a progressive decrease in disease severity. Fertilization with an organic source (Milorganite) was not as effective in reducing disease severity.
