Summary

Summary

Many internet soils databases are available to natural resource managers. Accessing and using these databases can be confusing. One significant, user-friendly, and powerful online tool is the USDA-NRCS Web Soil Survey (WSS). The reader will be guided through using WSS. Explanations and examples, including sample WSS output windows, are given to illustrate how to use the WSS and to show the kinds of detailed soil information and output (descriptive, graphical, tabular, and electronic) one can generate using WSS. It will be helpful for readers to access the site while reading this chapter. A list of additional online sources and data sets of natural resource information is provided.
