Book: Geochemistry of Soil Radionuclides, SSSA Special Publication 59, 2002

Recurring concerns about the environmental fate and potential health impacts of radionuclides continue to focus interest on understanding the mechanisms controlling their transport in soils and their biological availability. This work builds on both basic science and empirical engineering studies to provide a mechanistic approach to facilitate risk assessment and cost-effective remediation procedures. The authors highlight theories and technologies developed in understanding the fate of radionuclides in soils, groundwater and in potential nuclear waste repositories.
