The genetic linkage between three loci in soybeans was determined and established as Linkage Group IV. The loci involved were V1, v1 (normal chlorophyll variegated leaves); Na, na (ovate, lanceolate leaflets); and P2,p2 (normal, minute pubescence or “puberulence”). The order of genes was shown to be v1-na-p2. The combined recombination value for v1 and na was 35.6 ± 0.9%, for na and p2 was 26.4 ± 1.4%, and random assortment of v1 and p2 occurred. Greater frequency of 4.seeded pods was shown to be a pleiotropic effect of the gene that causes narrow leaflets.
