C-14 Labeled Photosynthate Export from Fully Expanded Corn (Zea mays L.) Leaf Blades1

  1. John A. Eastin2

Abstract

Abstract

The velocity and time course of C-14 labeled photosynthate export from corn leaves were studied at 15 days after silk emergence. The C-14 front moved at a velocity of ca. 138 cm/hr. The rate and completeness of C-14 export from corn leaves was similar to that reported for sugarcane, and more complete than for most species reported in the literature.
