Ineffectiveness of Nucleotides and Air Pressure Treatments as Substitutes for Vernalization of Winter Wheats1

  1. E. J. Trione and
  2. R. J. Metzger2

Neither uridine monophosphate nor air pressure (3.67 kg/cm2 for 5, 10, 15 days) treatments induced the development of apical meristems in three nonvernalized winter wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivum L.). Thus, these treatments cannot be used in place of cold treatments to satisfy the vernalization requirements of winter wheat.
