Abstract

Abstract

Groats from F2-derived lines of oats (in the F3 generation) from three crosses between Avena sativa L. ✕ A. sterilis L. cultivars, and samples from the parents, were analyzed for oil percentage using the nuclear magnetic resonance method. Oil percentage was inherited polygenically, with high oil content being partially dominant. Transgressive segregates were found in one cross. Oil percentage showed no correlation with groat weight, heading date, or plant height.
