Recognition of Translocations and Alien Chromosome Transfers in Wheat by the Giemsa C-banding Technique1

  1. Bikram S. Gill and
  2. Gordon Kimber2

The identification of the wheat chromosome arms involved in four translocation situations has been made through Giemsa staining. One translocation is between wheat (Triticum aestivum L. em. Thell.) chromosomes 4A and 6B, one between rye (Secale cereale L.) chromosome 1R and wheat chromosome 1D and two different translocations between chromosome 6cu of T. umbellulatum (Zhuk.) Bowden and 6B of wheat.
