Cultures with selective pathogenicity were developed through hybridization or selfing to identify genes for resistance in flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) to flax rust [Melampsora lini (Ehrenb.) Lev). Selected races of M. lint were crossed and selfed to produce virulent patterns to identify combinations of resistance alleles L11, M3, M6, and P3 relatively simple.
